Gillard's just shown the limits of her tolerance.
How do we get these politicians who are permanently stuck in the 1950s?
I'm a writer, mostly of speculative fiction, living in rural Tasmania. I've got a rural GP wife and three small kids, and I keep a running commentary of life here so that when my kids are old enough to give a shit, they can read up and discover who their parents used to be. I tried doing this on paper, but I sucked at it. So I tried doing it online with an audience. It worked. May contain adult language and concepts. Deal with it.
Was kinda hoping Gillard would turn out to be Australia's Helen Clark - unmarried, leftist, godless, pro gay rights and anti stupid Cletuses. Nup. She bows to a god alright, the god of political expediency.
ReplyDeleteBah. Unenlightened twits. I applaud her honesty but as you say, Dirk, why are so many of our polies stuck back in the '50's? It boggles the mind...
ReplyDeletelol Can't believe you guys are surprised. She'll lean to the right on asylum stuff soon too. What's the bet?.
ReplyDeleteSell. Out.
Sorry Pete, who'd you vote for again?
ReplyDeleteThat's right. I can't discuss Australian politics because I'm not a citizen. Apologies for my immigrant intrusion.....mas'er.
ReplyDelete...and a Christian. Doc doesn't like it.
ReplyDeleteLot's to ay about Seppo and Kiwi politics though, don't we Doc?.
Didn't say I was surprised, Moko. Just tired of disappointment is all. And I won't be at all surprised if she goes all Spineless Johnny Howard on asylum seekers. In fact, I won't even be disappointed. I pretty much assume the worst of politicians until they actually surprise me. Which was the point of the previous post regarding Ms Gillard.
ReplyDeleteI haven't come across one single PM in MY existence that I thought was the duck's guts. Hope, and politics, are like oil and water imo.
