Knowing a bit about the good scribe, I expect he's done his research, and had a few discussions with longtime street coppers. <br /><br />It's true, though. An experienced and determined amateur will absolutely demolish even a highly trained, instructor-grade player from the martial arts which don't explore the ugly side of conflict. I can remember at least half a dozen different cases of "No-Can Do guy goes to the pub, gets clobbered by street fighter" from my time in Brisbane, and elsewhere.<br /><br />There's a mindset that goes with effective use of violence.
